Wind in the Forge Media is Medicine Hawk’s own publishing company. The first release under its imprint was Urban Santeria: New World Magic for Urban and Suburban Populations. In 2005 Recoven: The Wiccan Recovery Program was published. The most recent book is Thunderhead: A New Age Life and Times.
Dr. Medicine Hawk Wilburn has a B.S. from Mercer University, an M.Ed. from Georgia State University and a Ph.D. from Southwest University. He was introduced into Refugiado Santeria in Miami, Florida, in the 1960s. He is author of four books.
Hawk is a sixth grade teacher and university professor of education in Southern California, where he lives with his son, Ray, and where the Inland Empire Grey Cat Coven meets regularly at the Temple of the Grey Cat. The Shrine of Ogun and Oya hosts the celebrations for the followers of Refugiado Santeria at the same location.

James T. Crawford is the co-author of Thunderhead. Jim received his Bachelor’s in Education from Miami University in 1969. He has been a teacher for thirty years in science, health and computer science. He also wrote Gentle Slopes and Lofty Tower, a book about the history of Withrow High School in Cincinnati and has published poetry in several magazines and anthologies. He appeared on Bill Moyers’ program “Children in America’s Schools,” about educational disparities in the U.S. Jim has researched various areas of metaphysics and the paranormal since he was in junior high.
Grey Cat, co-author of American Indian Ceremonies, became active in Wicca in the early 1980s. She was trained in British Traditional Wicca and founded her own group which has continued for more than 15 years. She is also the author of Deepening Witchcraft: Advancing Skills and Knowledge; ECW Press, Montreal, 2002.
Illustrator Zola Novak studied at the Alberta College of Art in multiple disciplines including glass, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry. She is a Collective Member of Gallery Gachet, a unique artist run center located in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she also serves as Vice President of the Board. Zola paints, creates ceramic sculpture and documentary videos. Her first video about art and healing, entitled I Would Not Live In Heaven screened at the Out On Screen Film Festival in 2005, in British Columbia. She is a Board Member of the Community Arts Council of Vancouver and a Member of the Community Arts Network. Zola is an accomplished psychic healer, who works by energizing a person’s bio-energy fields. She created the cover paintings and the line drawings for both Recoven and Thunderhead.
